Crowned head of King George VI facing left; around, the legend GEORGIVS VI D · G · BRITT · OMN · REX F · D · IND · IMP: (George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith, Emperor of India) from 1938 to 1947, or GEORGIVS VI DEI GRA: BRITT: OMN: REX FID DEF + (George VI, by the Grace of God, King of all the Britains, Defender of the Faith) from 1949 to 1952, owing to the independence of India; below the neck truncation in small letters the artist's initials, PM (for Percy Metcalfe).
