Detailed information about Coin: Twenty Cents 2001 Centenary of Federation - Victoria from Australia
In 2001, Australia released a series of coins to commemorate the Centenary of Federation. There were nine different designs for twenty cent coins which marked the occasion - one each for the six states (New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and Western Australia), the two territories (Australian Capital Territory and Northern Territory) and for Norfolk Island.
The Royal Australian Mint held a national competition for primary and secondary school students to design a coin to represent their state or territory, the coins representing the vision and talent of Australia's youth.

Student Design winners for Victoria were Ryan Douglas Ladd and Mark Aaron Kennedy of Lara Lake Primary School.
Their design features Melbourne's Royal Exhibition building which is significant as the location of the first sitting of Federal Parliament in 1901. It is surrounded by Victoria's floral emblem, the Common Heath. The designers' initials RDL and MAK are respectively to the left and right of the flowers.
Around above, the hand-written text reads "Centenary of Federation"; the dates 1901 and 2001 are divided by the Royal Exhibition building; below, overlayed on the building is the denomination 20 and below that "cents".
