Description

Coin commemorating the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. It features three regal purple concentric stripes bordering St Edward’s Crown, designed by the Royal Australian Mint after extensive consultation with Buckingham Palace.

This was only the second coloured coin the Royal Australian Mint released into circulation. Initial announcements indicated mintage of two million pieces, but the subsequent Mint report sets the figure to just one million.

The reverse design commemorates the 60th anniversary of the Coronation of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with a central design feature of St Edward's Crown within concentric regal purple stripes. Around above, EIIR CORONATION 60 YEARS; around below, the denomination TWO DOLLARS.
