Pakistan (officially the Islamic Republic of Pakistan), is a sovereign country in South Asia. With a population exceeding 180 million people, it is the sixth most populous country and with an area covering 796,095 km2, it is the 36th largest country in the world in terms of area. Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre coastline along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by the nations of India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest and China in the far northeast respectively. It is separated from Tajikistan by Afghanistan's narrow Wakhan Corridor in the north, and also shares a marine border with Oman.

The federal government is expected to introduce the Rs10 coin in a couple of weeks, a State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) spokesperson said on Monday.
The SBP started receiving Rs10 coins from Pakistan Mint — the nation’s oldest mint located in Lahore’s Shalimar Town from Monday, the SBP spokesperson told The Express Tribune. However, he said, it may take another two weeks before the new coins started circulating as the central bank needed time to supply them to its 16 offices nationwide.

As per Federal Government’s Gazette Notification dated June 04, 2015 the old design banknotes will cease to be legal tender with effect from December 01, 2016. Therefore it has now been decided to phase out all remain in gold design banknotes of Rs 10, 50, 100 and 1000, said a statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan here on Friday.
The Rs. 5 banknote and the old design Rs. 500 banknote have already been demonetized.

The central bank will issue new five-rupee coin on Thursday (Oct 15). According to the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), weight of new coin is 3 grams and it is made of 79 percent copper, 20 percent zinc and 1 percent nickel. There is a rising star on the front of the coin in which ‘Islami Jamhuriya Pakistan’ is imprinted, while there are stars and flowers imprinted on the back.
The coin will be available from the exchange counters of all the offices of SBP. The old 5-rupee coin is still legal and will remain in circulation for now.
