Australia has two mints, the Royal Australian Mint (which also makes the country's circulating coinage) and the Perth Mint, which are both very active in the bullion coinage space; coins issued by them are legal tender.
Additionally, there are private issuers of bullion which is not legal tender and is targeted at investors and not at coin collectors - such as this one.
This one-ounce gold minted bar is the first bullion bar made by the Perth Mint to mark the Chinese Lunar Year.

Lunar New Year is celebrated on 10 February 2024 when we welcome back the Year of the Dragon. One of the most auspicious animal signs in lunar astrology, the mythical dragon is believed to bestow bravery, ambition, intelligence, and good fortune on those born under its influence. |
