Australia has two mints, the Royal Australian Mint (which also makes the country's circulating coinage) and the Perth Mint, which are both very active in the bullion coinage space; coins issued by them are legal tender. There are also private issuers of bullion, which is not legal tender and is targeted at investors and not at coin collectors.
The mint says about this product: "Bullion bars represent one of the most cost-effective ways of purchasing physical precious metals. Along the side of the bar is an individual serial number, guaranteeing the authenticity of the Perth Mint Silver bar."
This type of 100oz silver bar has been made by the Perth Mint since 2020. |
