Silver Ounce 2018 Royal Wedding, Coin from Australia - detailed information

The obverse of the coin shows the crowned mature head of Queen Elizabeth II facing right (her effigy known as the "Fourth Portrait"). The Queen wears the "Girls of Great Britain and Ireland" diamond tiara, a wedding gift from Queen Mary (Her Majesty's grandmother) in 1947 - which she also has on the Machin and the Gottwald portraits.

In small letters below the head, the artist's initials IRB (for Ian Rank-Broadley).

Around the effigy is the monarch's legend, the date of issue and the value: ELIZABETH II AUSTRALIA 1oz 9999 SILVER 2018 1 DOLLAR.

The inscription around the rim also incorporates the precious metal content. "1oz 9999 SILVER" means "one troy ounce of 99.99% silver".

The reverse of the coin features a coloured photograph of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle; in the background, the Windsor Castle in London where the marriage ceremony took place.

The Perth Mint’s P mint mark is to the right, and the designer's initials NM (for Natasha Muhl) are vertically to the left.

Around the rim, which is decorated with sprigs of myrtle below, the inscription H.R.H. PRINCE HENRY OF WALES & MS MEGHAN MARKLE (H.R.H. is abbreviated from His Royal Highness).

On two lines in the exergue, the date of the wedding: 19 MAY 2018.
