CoinSilver Five Ounces 2024 Year of the Dragon

The Kingdom of Bhutan has used the Ngultrum (དངུལ་ཀྲམ) as its currency since 1974. Apart from its regular circulating coinage, the Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan has also authorised some foreign mints to issue coins under its jurisdiction, which come in a variety of sizes - including in the internationally popular silver five ounces (5 oz silver) very large format, denominated usually as 1,000 Ngultrum. These coins are considered Non-Circulating Legal Tender (NCLT) and not bullion, because they are released at prices significantly higher than the intrinsic (bullion) value of their precious metal content.

The mint says about this coin:
2024 marks the commencement of a new lunar almanac cycle with the Year of the Dragon. The Royal Monetary Authority of Bhutan proudly issues the Happiest Lunar Coin Series - 2024 Bhutan Lunar Dragon coins, exclusively minted and marketed by The Singapore Mint. This new launch is the ninth coin issue of the Bhutan Lunar and Attraction series (2016-2027).

The majestic dragon which symbolises royalty and strength, is embellished with Bhutan’s swirls of nature. The breathtaking flight of the dragon soaring through the skies blesses everyone with everlasting happiness and good fortune.
