The Ghanaian Cedi has been the currency of Ghana since 1965, when it replaced the pre-decimal Ghanaian Pound.
Apart from the regular circulating coinage, the country has also authorised some foreign mints to issue commemorative and bullion coins under its jurisdiction. These are typically in standard bullion sizes, such as half ounce of silver (abbreviated as 1/2 oz Ag, where "Ag" comes from the Latin word for silver, Argentum).
The mint says about this coin: In the Chinese zodiac, Tiger is the third animal, which is considered the symbol of the brave. 2022 is going to be the year of the Water Tiger that will bring determinism, strength, growth, spontaneity, and novelty. The Water element in its Yang form is the key source of positive energy throughout 2022. |
