Information about Paul Burkhard

Paul Burkhard (14 October 1888 - 2 August 1964)

Paul Burkhard was a Swiss sculptor and illustrator. He studied at the Munich Academy (1913-1921). His works include portrait busts, figures, groups and animals, designs for coins and stamps. He is best know for the design of the Swiss five franc coin where the obverse features an alpine herdsman (and not William Tell as some people think).
