This official 2020 Euro coin set from Germany consists of 9 coins struck by the Karlsruhe Mint in proof quality, called Spiegelglanz in German. The set includes the regular circulating coins with denominations of 2 Euro, 1 Euro, 50 Cent, 20 Cent, 10 Cent, 5 Cent, 2 Cent, and 1 Cent. This year's issue also includes the 2-euro coin "Federal State of Brandenburg - Sanssouci Palace in Potsdam" from the series "Die 16 Bundesländer der Bundesrepublik Deutschland" (The 16 States of the Federal Republic of Germany).
Germany has five mints - Berlin, Munich, Stuttgart, Karlsruhe and Hamburg. Coins issued by them differ only in the mint mark, which is a letter. All five mints issue sets in identical packaging, differing only in the inscription which announces the issuing mint, and the respective mint mark.
The Karlsruhe Mint merged with the Stuttgart Mint in 1998 to form the Staatliche Münzen Baden-Württemberg (SMBW) - State Mints of Baden-Württemberg; however, each of them still uses its own separate facilities and mint mark, which for Karlsruhe is the letter G. |
