Designed by New Zealand artist Dave Burke, each coin features one of New Zealand's five kiwi species - brown kiwi, little spotted kiwi, great spotted kiwi, tokoeka and rowi in their natural habitat.The set come in an elegant display box, with a certificate containing further detail on the brown kiwi. The brown kiwi features on the annual "kiwi" series (which has a new design every year); the rest of the designs, as well as the half-ounce format of the brown kiwi, are only available in this set.
The coins are "reverse proof" - mirror-polished designs on a frosted background.
The set is issued by NZ Post, the official issuer of New Zealand stamps and commemorative coins, under the authority of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand; the coins themselves were struck by B.H. Mayer. |
