2006 Krugerrand Launch Set, Coin Set from South Africa - detailed information

This set was issued by the South African Mint in collaboration with the Berlin Mint, to commemorate the portrait of Paul Kruger by Berlin Mint designer Otto Schultz.

It contains a replica of the South African 5-shilling coin using the portrait which has the same specifications as the original (28.28 g of sterling silver, 38.61 mm in diameter), and a 1oz gold piece on the obverse which the initials of Otto Schultz have been added as per the original design (they were never used on the coinage though), and a Berlin privy mark in reference to the Berlin Mint.

The set is presented in a wooden box including a numbered certificate of authenticity from the South African Mint (bullion Krugerrand coins are produced by Rand Refinery; the South African Mint produces and markets proofs and sets).
