This launch set celebrates the commemoration of the seventy-fifth D-Day landings of World War II on 6 June 1944. On this day the Allied forces landed on the coast of Normandy which started the liberation campaign of Europe and defeat of Nazi Germany.
The set consists of a 1oz 24ct gold proof Krugerrand with a privy mark on the reverse featuring the Roman numerals for the year 1944, and a sterling-silver medallion featuring the names of the five assault beaches where ground troops landed during Operation Overlord completes the set. |
