This coin set was issued as part of the SA25 coin series celebrating 25 years of constitutional democracy in South Africa.
The set consists of the following SA25 commemorative coins in proof quality: a R50 bronze alloy coin depicting two interlocked hands symbolising unison/togetherness joined in the shape of a cross similar to the mark made on a ballot during the voting process; a R50 sterling-silver coin depicting the memorable image of long voting queues associated with the first election; and all 6 commemorative circulation coins representing some of the fundamental human rights enshrined in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa.
The reverses of all these coins are linked together by the typeface created for the Constitutional Court. |
