Laos (officially the Lao People's Democratic Republic) has been using the Lao Kip as its currency since 1955. In normal everyday circulation, it is normally served by banknotes and not coins.
The country has however authorised some foreign mints to issue bullion coins under its jurisdiction. These are in standard bullion sizes, such as one ounce of silver - designated as 1 oz Ag, where Ag is abbreviated from Argentum, the Latin word for silver. |
