Malta has been using the Euro as its currency since 2008. Apart from the regular circulation coinage, the country has also authorised some mints to issue non circulating and bullion coins under its jurisdiction. In 2025, the country also authorised legal tender "coin bars" - bullion products with the form factor of regular bars, but designated with a face value in Euro. The 250 g (two hundred and fifty grams, or a quarter kilogram) of silver are denominated as €15 (Fifteen Euro).
According to Eurozone convention, the denomination is legal tender in Malta only, and not in the whole Eurozone. |
