Part of the "Murrine Millefiori" collection.
The glass processing technique Millefiori - "thousand flowers" - was already known in Ancient Rome and is nowadays mainly continued on the island of Murano near Venice.
In 2015 CIT launched the Murrine Millefiori Glass Art series that displays this stunning technique on a beautiful fine silver coin. The coins feature an elaborate combination of fine silver and colourful glass elements. State-of-the-art minting technology is combined with the millenia-old Millefiori tradition to create truly unique coins. The individual Millefiori glass rods are handselected making each coin a one-of-a-kind collectable.
Murrine Millefiori Glass Art 2016 – CIT Coin Invest AG The Mint says about this coin:
Like the previous edition, the second issue in this series also features an elaborate combination of fine silver and colourful glass elements. State of the art minting technology is combined with the millenia-old Millefiori tradition, which already inspired the ancient Romans. Each coin is unique, as the coloured glass pieces within the heart and ring ornaments melt into each other to create an unparalleled pattern. Furthermore, the inclusion of SeQrySign®, developed by CIT, makes this new edition even more precious and counterfeit resistant. more CIT Item ID: 27546 Country: Cook Islands (the) Date of issue: 2016 Denomination: 5 Dollars Material: Silver .999 Quality: Proof Mintage: 999 |
