The glass processing technique Millefiori - "thousand flowers" - was already known in Ancient Rome and is nowadays mainly continued on the island of Murano near Venice.

In 2015 CIT launched the Murrine Millefiori Glass Art series that displays this stunning technique on a beautiful fine silver coin. The coins feature an elaborate combination of fine silver and colourful glass elements. State-of-the-art minting technology is combined with the millenia-old Millefiori tradition to create truly unique coins. The individual Millefiori glass rods are handselected making each coin a one-of-a-kind collectable.

The exceptionally popular Murrine Millefiori set comes to a close in 2017 with the third and final issue of this award winning series. True to the series’ character, the 2017 coin features a murrine millefiori glass ring and a corresponding heart at the center of the coin. This year the ornaments are set on a lush green background resembling a lively wildflower meadow. The handmade murrine technique once again results in each of the 999 coins to be unique in flower detail and arrangement. Specifications have remained unchanged since the first issue that snatched up the People’s Choice Award at Coin Constellation 2016.
