series is dedicated to the

and was struck from a

1/4 Oz of 99.99% pure gold

in proof quality. The motive of the

Ultra High Relief gold coin

shows the head of a roaring lion in the foreground and a shadowy representation of another lion's head in the background. The inscription "KING OF THE SOUTH" is also included in the design. The reverse features the claws of a lion that appear to be breaking through the obverse, holding a coin within the coin that features the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II as well as the denomination, the state of issue, and the year of issue. The background was decorated with numerous ornaments.
