The coin’s reverse depicts the Goddess Artemis with her with a silver bow and arrow, accompanied by a doe next to her. In the background, you see the Temple of Artemis with the distinctive Greek architecture and inscriptions: “ARTEMIS” (the name of the coin).

The obverse side of the coin depicts the standard Coat of Arms with Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: “10 DOLLARS” (the face value), “ELIZABETH II” (the name of the Queen), “COOK ISLANDS” (the issuing country) and “2020” (the year of issue).

Artemis is a goddess from Greek mythology. She belongs to the Greek Pantheon’s twelve gods and is a daughter of the supreme god Zeus and Leto and Apollo’s twin sister. Artemis is the Goddess of the hunt, women and the moon. She is often depicted with a silver bow and arrow made by Hephaistos, the moon and a doe next to her. Accompanied by her nymphs, she crossed the mountains and forests of Arcadia and Lacedaemonia. She especially loved the doe and the bears. Other attributes that belong to Artemis are the goose, wild dogs and the olive tree on Delos. Artemis’s nickname is Dhelia, named after the island of Delos.
