Falkland Islands 2011 - Queen Elizabeth II & Prince Philip: Lifetime of Service - Cupro Nickel Coin British Pobjoy Mint
The Mint says about this coin: To commemorate a Lifetime of Service by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and His Royal Highness Prince Philip, five special coins were released on behalf of Ascension Island, the British Indian Ocean Territory, the Falkland Islands, South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands and the Isle of Man. The Falkland Islands coin features a central design of the initials ‘E & P’. The image above the letter ‘E’ is taken from Her Majesty’s United Kingdom Arms of Dominion and the image above the letter ‘P’ is taken from the Duke of Edinburgh’s Coat of Arms. The year 2011 celebrates not only the 85th Birthday of Queen Elizabeth II but also the 90th Birthday of Prince Philip. The couple married on 20th November 1947 at Westminster Abbey and have four children, eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. All coins have been approved by Buckingham Palace and each obverse bears a fine effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley FRBS. The coins are only available in Uncirculated Cupro Nickel.
