Falkland Islands 2011 - Celebrating the Royal Wedding - Uncirculated Cupro Nickel Coin British Pobjoy Mint
The Mint says about this coin: Pobjoy Mint is excited to produce and release a commemorative coin on behalf of the Falkland Islands which is one of the first to celebrate the Royal Wedding. On 16 th November 2010, Clarence House made the announcement advising that Prince William, the eldest son of Prince Charles and second in line to the throne, had become engaged to his long-term girlfriend Miss Catherine Middleton. William and Catherine met whilst students at the University of St Andrews and, following months of speculation, Prince William asked Catherine to marry him in October 2010 whilst on holiday in Kenya but the public announcement was only made public once family and friends were informed. The fact that Prince William had proposed using the same ring that was given by his father to Diana added to the romance of it all. The wedding itself will take place on 29 th April 2011 and this date has been declared a public holiday in the United Kingdom. Approved by both Clarence House and Buckingham Palace, this superb coin shows beautifully sculpted portraits of HRH Prince William and Miss Catherine Middleton.
