2024-dated 1oz silver Chinese Whiskered Dragon coin issued as part of a five-part series. Each piece will be legal tender of the Island of Fiji, struck with high relief surfaces on both sides, and have a shaped edge to follow the contours of the dragon image. Premier versions will be certified and graded by the Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC) with an exclusive NGC label. Each piece will include a numbered mint certificate, packaging, and a colorful storybook on the dragons in the series. This is the third release in an exciting new legal tender five-part coin series that showcases various dragons as depicted from different cultures around the world. The series will have a new release roughly every six months, so the scope of the program will run from 2022 to 2024.Other releases in the series will include: 2022 Welsh Red Dragon (already released) 2023 Egyptian Dragon (already released) 2025 Aztec/Mayan Dragon 2026 India Dragon Key Features: The reverse features a dramatic Chinese Whiskered Dragon in a curled pose (from the front side. The obverse includes the backside of the same dragon shown on the reverse, Fiji’s ethnic Code of Arms, the date, the coin’s specifications, and the denomination (inside a micro-effigy circle). the edges of the coin are contoured to follow the shape of the dragon on both sides – which create a very dramatic effect. both sides have been antiqued with a darkened finish to help bring out the detail. Coin Designer Zhu Xihua The handsome reverse design is the work of esteemed China art designer Zhu Xihua, an artist renowned for his animal artwork. Mr. Zhu currently works for China’s Shanghai Mint. Mr. Zhu has been working as a coin designer and engraver for over a decade and has contributed to the design of over 100 commemorative coins. Born in 1982, he graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy where he majored in stage design. He joined the Shanghai Mint Co Ltd in 2005, where he learned from senior designers and was selected to work on a new series of Chinese gold and silver zodiac coins, two of which were nominated for the Krause “Coin of the Year” awards. In 2016, the Shanghai Mint Co Ltd established the Zhu Xihua Art Design Studio with a team of 10 designers (including Zhu himself). This team designed the set of 5 silver coins commemorating the 90th anniversary of the People’s Liberation Army (1 August 1927). Some Mr. Zhu’s more recent numismatic achievements include the 2021 to 2023-dated China Golden Eagle series and the 2022 to 2023 China Black Unicorn Proof series.
