Obverse: On the obverse, knitting needles are depicted. The knitting needles symbolize a cozy evening and a time for storytelling. The atmosphere is supported by motifs of the starry sky. Country of origin "LITHUANIA", embroidered with thread in the upper part of the coin. The motif of the fairy tale "Egle - the Queen of the Serpents" is traced on the woven fabric. In the lower part, the coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania - Vityaz is depicted. The year of release "2021" and the denomination "5Є" are stamped on the right side of the composition.
Reverse: On the reverse of the coin, the confrontation between the main characters of the fairy tale is depicted - Egle and Žilvinas. In the center of the coin is a grass snake, on the body of which various symbols and the name of the fairy tale "Egle - Queen of Serpents" are depicted. The trees in the upper part of the coin symbolize the children Egle and Žilvinas, which according to the plot turn into oak, ash and aspen, and Egle herself into spruce.
About the coin: A silver collectible coin from a series of folk tales issued by the Bank of Lithuania. The obverse design was made by Egle Ratkute-Žemaite, the reverse design by Vilyus Krasnikas and Egle Ratkute-Žemaite. This variant of the coin differs in its color image. |
