MACAU LUNAR TIGER COINS The Monetary Authority of Macau proudly presents the Macau Lunar Tiger Coins, exclusively minted by The Singapore Mint. The Macau Lunar Tiger coins are the 3rd issue of the new 4th Lunar Coin Series (2020 – 2031), which follows the success of the previous Award Winning series. The Award Winning Macau 3rd Lunar Coin Series had clinched numerous international awards such as the “Vicenza Palladio” International Prizes and the Mint Directors Conference “Most Beautiful Commemorative Gold Coin” awards. The Singapore Mint is honoured to continue to be the appointed mint and marketing agent for this highly popular series. The obverse design for the new Macau Lunar Coin Series features the Chinese Zodiac animal, portrayed with a vibrant display of the distinctive Portuguese-inspired patterned tiles. The reverse design features World Heritage Sites of Macao from an angular side perspective presentation, sculpted in the latest angular high relief minting technique. Three coin types are available for each design, in 1 oz 999 Fine Silver, 5 oz 999 Fine Silver and 1⁄2 oz 999.9 Fine Gold.The 5 oz silver coins are each embedded with a sparkling Swarovski crystal, and the gold coins are each embellished with an exquisite gold Swarovski ring, creating a dazzling collection! OBVERSE COIN DESIGN The obverse design of the coin features a mighty tiger, majestically portrayed with a vibrant display of orange coloured Portuguese-inspired patterned tiles.Embellishing the background are lotuses, the city flower of Macau, adding to the intricacy of the coin design. The accompanying text are also thoughtfully arranged to resemble the Map of the Macau Peninsula. REVERSE COIN DESIGN The reverse design features the St Lawrence’s Church, one of the three oldest churches in Macau, in high relief minting technique. Located within the historic centre of Macau, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the St Lawrence’s Church stands on a hillside and its churchyard is raised from the street level. A neo-classical structure, the main façade of the St Lawrence’s Church has two symmetrical towers, one with a bronze bell and the other with a clock, giving the church a distinct solemn appearance. Presented from a low angle perspective, the presentation immerses collectors, revealing the majestic sight of the church as one takes the iconic stairs leading towards the main entrance.
