CoinSilver One Hundred Grams 2025 Widnet il-Bahar

Malta has been using the Euro as its currency since 2008. Apart from the regular circulation coinage, the country has also authorised some mints to issue non circulating and bullion coins under its jurisdiction. In 2025, the country also authorised legal tender "coin bars" - bullion products with the form factor of regular bars, but designated with a face value in Euro. The 100 g (one hundred grams) of silver are denominated as €10 (Ten Euro).

According to Eurozone convention, the denomination is legal tender in Malta only, and not in the whole Eurozone.

This coin bar is part of the first release of legal tender bullion bars for Malta, and features the Widnet il-Bahar, Malta’s rare and iconic Centaurea flower. Known as the “Ear of the Sea,” this endangered plant thrives along Malta’s rugged coastlines and symbolizes the island’s natural beauty and resilience.

Revered in local folklore for its mystical ties to nature, the Widnet il-Baħar is a proud symbol of conservation in Malta. Each coinbar is finely engraved to capture the delicate essence of this unique bloom, offering both elegance and a nod to Malta’s rich biodiversity.
