Probably the most well-known symbol of luck extremely rare to find has inspired the creation of the Ounce of Luck series of coins issued by the Republic of Palau. This popular series carries a bit of fortune inside each coin following the famous saying “Better an Ounce of Luck than a Pound of Gold” which makes us reconsider what is really valuable in our lives. On the obverse of the coin, there is a stylized composition including a shield with Neptune holding his trident, a mermaid by his side and an open treasure chest. The upper part of the coin comprises the inscription indicating the name of the issuing country. Below the composition, there is the legend denoting the face value of the silver coin. A genuine four-leaf clover is embedded on the reverse of this 2012 lucky coin making it a nice keepsake to bring a little fortune in someone’s life. One leaf is believed to symbolize faith, the second leaf is dedicated to hope, the third leaf embodies love and the fourth one brings luck. “Better an Ounce of Luck than a Pound of Gold” is also here, on the reverse, to remind of eternal valuables. At the bottom of the Ounce of Luck coin, there is the inscription indicating the issuing year.
