Popeye the Sailor is an iconic cartoon character created by Elzie Crisler Segar in 1929. Known for his bulging forearms, squinty eye, and ever-present corncob pipe, Popeye became famous for his catchphrase “I yam what I yam” and his incredible strength gained from eating spinach. Today, 2024 1 oz Samoa Silver Popeye and Brutus Coins are available at JM Bullion.

Popeye’s main rival is Bluto, often referred to as Brutus in some adaptations due to copyright issues. Bluto is a large, bearded, muscular man who serves as the primary antagonist in the Popeye series. He is often portrayed as a bully and a sailor, competing with Popeye for the affections of Olive Oyl, Popeye’s love interest.

On the obverse of 2024 Samoa Silver Popeye and Brutus Coins, you’ll find the Samoan coat of arms. The Samoan coat of arms features a shield based on the shape of the seal of the United Nations. The bottom field of the shield features the Southern Cross constellation, while a single palm tree set against the ocean’s background in the upper portion of the shield. There is a Christian cross backed by rays of light above.
