SKU 277 10 Euro coin "Grand Prix of Imola" 10 Euro silver 925‰ proof coin "Grand Prix of Imola"
The first edition of the San Marino Formula 1 Grand Prix, considered one of the most spectacular races in the F1 World Championship calendar, took place in 1981, on the circuit later named after Enzo and Dino Ferrari of Imola (Bologna) and saw the victory of Brazilian driver Nelson Piquet. Thirty-five years after that event, the Numismatica Sammarinese remembers the anniversary with a ten euro silver coin, proof version, designed by Matt Bonaccorsi, which represents a driver behind the wheel of an F1. The race was born thanks to the will of Enzo Ferrari and the Federation Auto Motoristica Sammarinese and took place for the last time in 2006. The evocative power of the Imola Circuit is now linked to a history of unforgettable sporting events that, in the collective imagination, raise it as a paradigm of the world of motor racing.
