Sierra Leone 2005 Remembers His Holiness Pope John Paul II Coin British Pobjoy Mint
The Mint says about this coin: During his lifetime, His Holiness Pope John Paul II travelled more widely than any of his predecessors, constantly seeking to bring peace and understanding to people everywhere. Throughout his 27 year papacy, His Holiness earned the respect and love of many communities and leaders around the world who came to recognize his very genuine desire to spread the Christian message. This is particularly true in Sierra Leone where Pope John Paul II made a public appeal to rebels to bring an end to hostilities. The Bank of Sierra Leone issued this very special legal tender coin to commemorate the life of this beloved man. Struck in two precious metals - Fine Gold and Niobium - the memorial $75 piece is stunningly beautiful. The bi-metal coin has a gold inner centre bearing a portrait of the late Pope on the reverse while the outer ring of purple Niobium is adorned by the Fourteen Stations of the Cross. Editions in Proof Sterling Silver and Unc. Cupro Nickel were also struck. Material: Uncirculated Cupro Nickel Size: 38.60mm Weight: 28.28gms Pobjoy Mint SKU#: L4416400 |
