This 2019 Solomon Islands Silver David Bowie is an excellent option for music fans. David Bowie was one of the most influential performers of the past fifty years and sold over 140 million albums worldwide. Having dabbled in music genres from glam rock to electronic to pop, Bowie is fondly remembered for his Ziggy Stardust persona. In addition to his talents as singer and songwriter, Bowie also saw some acting success, starring in films such as Jim Henson's "Labyrinth" and "The Man Who Fell to Earth." This coin is one of six in the new Legends of Music Series. It is part of a maximum mintage of 10,000 pieces and was struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver. Given Bowie's popularity and the low mintage, this coin will not likely be available for long.

Ian Rank-Broadley's portrait of Queen Elizabeth II is at the center of the obverse. The monarch dons earrings and a tiara. Her effigy is encircled by several inscriptions, most of which provide details about the coin.

Sid Maurer, who designed the reverse of this coin, began his career in the music industry at Columbia Records in New York at the tender age of 17. Throughout his career, which spanned the 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s, Maurer was exposed to some of the most influential musicians in the past century before transitioning to painting full-time in the 1990s.

David Bowie, as rendered by Sid Maurer, dominates the reverse. He looks off to the right of the holder. His image is set against a backdrop of a vinyl record, which was made through the use of black ruthenium. Next to Bowie's picture is the inscription "SID MAURER ARTWORK OF DAVID BOWIE." Also included on this face is the name of the series, "LEGENDS OF MUSIC."
