2019 Solomon Legends of Music Madonna 1 oz Silver Sid Maurer $5 Proof
Madonna changed the course of music history starting in the 1980s. She did so in such a dramatic manner that she became known as "the Queen of Pop." Madonna sold over 300 million records throughout her career, making her the best-selling female artist of all time and the fourth best-selling musician ever. Known for pushing boundaries with songs like "Like a Prayer," and "Like a Virgin," Madonna also acted in numerous films such as "A League of Their Own," and "Evita," even winning a Golden Globe for Best Actress.
Her music remains wildly popular and her career is still going strong decades later. Now, she is one of six performers being honored in the Legends of Music Series. This coin was struck from .999 fine silver and is one of 10,000 pieces in the mintage. It will arrive in GEM Proof condition. Its low mintage makes it all but certain that the window for private collectors to get these coins will close quickly.
Striking Madonna Design by Sid Maurer
The obverse features Queen Elizabeth II's portrait by Ian Rank-Broadley. Her image is encircled by inscriptions that include her name and essential information about the coin, such as its date, country, weight, and purity.
On the reverse is Sid Maurer's portrait of Madonna. She has a pale complexion that makes her red lips and blue eyes stand out. Just to the left of her is the inscription "SID MAURER ARTWORK OF MADONNA." In larger font, the name of the series, "LEGENDS OF MUSIC," is inscribed along the rim on the left.
Maurer began working at Columbia Records at the age of 17. Throughout his career in the music industry, Maurer would interact with some of the most iconic musicians from the past decades, before leaving in the 1990s to pursue his passion for painting.
