In Switzerland, apart from the government-owned Swissmint, there are also some private mints producing bullion which is not legal tender and is targeted at investors and not at coin collectors, such as this 100g gold piece. This one-hundred-gram gold bar by PAMP Suisse is cast, and not "milled" (struck by a press). When bars are cast, gold is melted and then poured directly into the molds. The bars are left to cool in the molds until they can be removed and stamped with identifying marks. As a result, these bars have unrefined appearances and rough visuals, which are often preferred by collectors who are interested in both the purity of gold and visual appeal of the products. | ||||||
