The Year of the Monkey is the 9th position in the 12-year cycle of the Zodiac, which is also known as the Chinese Lunar Calendar. In Chinese culture, the New Year occurs in February, with PAMP Suisse and other refiners producing products to represent each new year months in advance.
Ancient Chinese lore suggests that individuals born under the sign of a particular animal share certain characteristics and traits with that animal. Some of these traits are positive, while others are negative. The positives often play into the negative. For example, those born in the Year of the Monkey are confident, agile, and gregarious, which often leads to impressions of egotistical behavior, restless mindsets, and an air of arrogance.
On the obverse side of the bar is the image of a lone monkey climbing in the trees. A tree trunk dominates the center of the design, running from the top to the bottom of the bar design. On the trunk itself, you can see the Chinese symbol for monkey.
The reverse side of the bar features an opposite image of the monkey. Viewed from behind the tree, all you can see on either side of the trunk is the back of the monkey’s head and its tail as it wraps around the tree.
