Coin description
The reverse of the coin depicts the appearance of the Grizzly bear with his powerful and dangerous teeth in shiny silver and blue-ish coming through with the inscriptions: “2020” (the year of issue), “GRIZZLY BEAR” (the name of the coin), “URSUS ARCTOS” (“Grizzly Bear” in Greek and Latin).

The obverse side of the coin depicts the standard Coat of Arms of Tanzania with the inscriptions: “TANZANIA” (the issuing country) and “1500 SHILLINGS”.

Background information
The grizzly bear (Ursus Arctos) is a North American subspecies of the brown bear and is the second-largest subspecies after the Kodiak bear. Standing on its hind legs, it can reach a height of 10 feet (3 meters) and weigh up to 1,500 lb (680 kg). The bear’s construction is aimed at searching and digging for food in the ground. The grizzly bear has a very distinctive protruding muscle bundle between the shoulder blades, which gives it a lot of power in the front legs. The grizzly bear’s nails are also sharp and long (about 4 inches or 10 cm) and suitable for rooting in the earth. The grizzly bear kind of hibernates in winter. The bear retreats for a few months in a hole, often on mountain slopes above 6500 feet (2000 meters), only three to seven feet (one to two meters) in the ground and where the bear fits precisely. During this period, the bear consumes its fat reserves.
