The character first appeared in legends from the town of Hamelin in the Lower Saxony region of Germany. This first appearance in folklore came in the Middle Ages with early depictions and writings describing a figure dressed in a multicolored outfit. He was known to have a magical pipe that he would use to lure rats out of a town, a service that many towns around Germany hired him to perform.The obverse of 1 oz Medieval Legends Pied Piper Silver Rounds comes with a depiction of the infamous Pied Piper playing his magical flute. He is depicted at the center of a small village in Germany during the Middle Ages.
