This portrait of Queen Elizabeth II shows the monarch facing right, wearing The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara and earrings. The portrait terminates at the neck, at a point lower than usual (i.e. the neck looks longer than on other portraits). It seems that the effigy was developed by the Commonwealth Mint for use in dependencies of Commonwealth countries where the mint had a license to issue coinage in their jurisdictions. There is no further information about the effigy that we have been able to find. This portrait is based on a bust showing also the Queen's shoulders, but but is slightly different from it - for example, the earrings are short in this portrait but long on the bust. |
