![]() This portrait of Queen Elizabeth II depicts her facing right, wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem crown which she wore for her Coronation, pearl earrings, and a pearl necklace. The portrait was developed by the Pobjoy Mint for use in dependencies of Commonwealth countries where the mint had a license to issue coinage in their jurisdictions. The small letters PM below the shoulder truncation are a mint mark, and not the initials of the designer (who is not known, at least to us). The usage of the portrait varies - on some issues, the portrait terminates below the necklace, while on most the shoulders are also shown. This depiction was also used as part of conjoined (double) portrait of the Queen in 2012, where it was paired with her first definitive portrait to mark the 60th anniversary of her accession to the throne. |
