Information about legend: REPUBLIC OF PALAU

This legend is displayed on the (non-circulating) coinage of the Republic of Palau. This small nation in the western Pacific is in free association with the United States and uses the US Dollar as its currency; however, there is also extensive coinage issued for collectors under its authority, which is legal tender in Palau only and not in the US.
