SUID-AFRIKA · SOUTH AFRICA (1961 - )
LegendSUID-AFRIKA · SOUTH AFRICA
South Africa / One Cent 1964

The legend is bi-lingual, in Afrikaans and English. "Suid-Afrika" is the name of South Africa in Afrikaans, which was the only official language of the country apart from English at the time when South African coins displaying it were initially issued.

The order of the languages (which one is on the left and which one on the right) alternates, i.e. on some coin issues English comes first and on others Afrikaans is first.
