SEMPSA (1920 - present)

Founded in 1920 and headquartered in Madrid, Sociedad EspaƱola de Metales Preciosos S.A. (SEMPSA, or Sempsa) is one of Europe's most prestigious precious metals refineries. It is member of the LBMA (London Bullion Market Association) and the first European company certified by the Conflict-Free Sourcing Initiative (CFSI).

In the year 2000, the Cookson Group took over the business of Sociedad EspaƱola de Metales Preciosos S.A. and in 2013, the German company Heimerle + Meule GmbH acquired the Precious Metals Division of Cookson, making the new group the leader in services for the worldwide jewellery and silver industry.
