Adolf Jäger was a German sculptor and coin designer. He designed the Pfennig coins of the Deutsche Mark currency, which were minted from 1948 to 2001. The exception was the numeral "2" of the value side of the two-pfennig coin which was not designed by him; Jäger later described it as not matching the numbers in his designs.
Later, Jäger also took part in coin design competitions, such as the 2-mark coin minted from 1957 with the portrait of Max Planck and the commemorative coins "Johann Gottlieb Fichte" and "Johannes Gutenberg"; however, none of these were implemented. |
