Tiberius II Constantine (Latin: Flavius Tiberius Constantinus Augustus) was Eastern Roman Emperor from 574 to 582. A native of the Latin-speaking part of Thrace, Tiberius was nonetheless distinguished as the first of the "Greek [-speaking] Caesars" by Edward Gibbon, citing the 13th century Syriac Orthodox patriarch and writer Bar Hebraeus. |
