Dipendra Bir Bikram Shah (Nepali: दीपेन्द्र वीर विक्रम शाह) was a King of Nepal for three days from 1 to 4 June 2001.
Dipendra automatically became king at age 29 when he was blamed for shooting to death his parents (King Birendra and Queen Aishwarya), siblings (Prince Nirajan and Princess Shruti), and seven other members of the royal family during a shooting rampage on 1 June 2001. At the end of his rampage, Dipendra shot himself and slipped into a coma for three days. Upon Dipendra's death, his father's brother Gyanendra became king. |
