Michael Gaudioso worked for over a decade at the U.S. Mint as a Medallic Artist, Sculptor, and Engraver. Notably, he is responsible for sculpting Emily Damstra’s design of the Type 2 - 2021 Silver Eagle reverse.
Michael Gaudioso graduated from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and the New York Academy Graduate School of Figurative Art in New York City (1989 - 1991). He studied (1994 - 1999) in St. Petersburg, Russia, at the highly regarded Repin Institute. Gaudioso taught figure drawing at Villanova University and served as a master painter and designer for the prestigious Willet Hauser stained glass studio (2004 - 2007).
He was a sculptor-engraver for the U.S. Mint in Philadelphia from 2008 until he retired in 2020, where he crafted numerous designs himself and sculpted designs by other United States Mint artists.
