Pope Innocent IV (Latin: Innocentius IV), born Sinibaldo Fieschi, was Pope of the Catholic Church from 25 June 1243 to his death in 1254. Shortly after Innocent's election as Pope, his nephew Opizzo was elevated to the Latin Patriarchate of Antioch. In December, 1251, Innocent IV appointed another nephew, Ottobuono, Cardinal Deacon of S. Andriano. Ottobuono was elected Pope Adrian V in 1276. Innocent was succeeded by Pope Alexander IV (Rinaldo de' Conti). |
