First issued in 1996, the long-running Australian Lunar Coin Series portrays the 12 animals of the ancient lunar zodiac. Annual designs featuring the mouse, ox, tiger, rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, goat, monkey, rooster, dog and pig are depicted in sequence according to the position they finished in the emperor’s Great Race.
In 2019, the Perth Mint celebrates the Year of the Pig, the twelfth animal in the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac. This set consists of three silver proof coins (1/2, 1 and 2 ounces). All three coins features the same image of a domesticated pig, along with four piglets.
The years of the pig include those born in the years 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007 and 2019.
This silver coin set is presented in a stylish red and black case, and comes with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity and an illustrated box. |
