This twelve-coin set was issued as a sort of continuation of the Perth Mints Gods of Olympus series issued in 2014 (featuring Zeus, Poseidon and Hades), followed by the Goddesses of Olympus series issued in 2015 (Hera, Athena and Aphrodite); these were both issued under the authority of Tuvalu, but the continuation was issued for the Cook Islands.
The Mint says about the set: This spectacular 12-coin collection features the twelve gods of Olympus - Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, Artemis, Athena, Demeter, Hephaestus, Hera, Hermes, Hestia, Poseidon and Zeus. Each coin is meticulously struck from 2oz of 99.9% pure silver. To capture the depth and detail of each design, the coins are struck in high relief to a rimless format, and have been individually "antiqued" to give them a unique finish conveying the surface abrasions of an ancient artefact. As a result of this treatment, the appearance of each coin may vary.
The set is presented in a perfect presentation three-tiered box with each of the three draw inserts displaying four coins. The set is accompanied with three numbered Certificates of Authenticity booklets. |
