This set was issued to celebrate the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, and contains all for sizes of the platinum Noble coin, in Proof FDC grade and with a special privy mark for the occasion: a crowned numeral 90.
The Noble series started with the platinum in 1983 but was mostly discontinued after 1989, except for occasional commemoratives like this. 2016 was also the last year when the Pobjoy Mint released coins in the range; it was continued by the Tower Mint after that.
The set comes with the coins individually encapsulated in rectangular plastic slabs, with a wooden box and a numbered Certificate of Authenticity. the one-ounce Noble is only available with this set, with a total mintage of 90; the other coins have mintage listed as 360 (although this only includes coins with the privy mark; the tenth-Noble was issued separately as bullion without it). |
